Job Description

Examples of the duties:  

  • Supports budgeting activities and assists with year-end procedures, including the preparation of work papers, recording of financial transactions, maintenance of general ledgers, and generation of trial balances and financial statements using accounting software
  • Communicates complex financial concepts clearly and effectively while delivering tailored solutions 
  • Deliver hands-on training and ongoing support to ensure clients are confident and proficient in using their accounting software, including QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online, and Sage 
  • Consult with clients and internal stakeholders to help identify, develop, document, and implement process improvements
  • Leverage data and technology to help improve efficiency, accuracy, and automation of tasks 
  • Works closely with accounting, payroll, and operations teams to ensure accurate cost allocation 
  • Manage the full cycle of accounts payable and accounts receivable, including the accurate coding, entry, and reconciliation of transactions, while ensuring compliance with internal controls and supporting timely financial reporting 
  • Be an active participant in business development and cultivate relationships to strengthen both yourself and the firm 

Job Description:   
The Senior Accountant at Christianson provides a broad range of accounting services, including financial statement preparation, transaction processing, software and accounting consulting, and outsourced support, under the supervision of Supervisors, Managers, and Partners. This role also serves as a strategic advisor to both internal teams and external clients, evaluating accounting systems, identifying areas for improvement, and leading the implementation of new technologies. With a focus on efficiency and accuracy, the Senior Accountant plays a key role in delivering tailored solutions and supporting clients through the full lifecycle of financial and operational transformation.   

Qualifications & Characteristics 

  • Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, or other related field; equivalent work experience in relevant accounting functions will also be considered. 
  • 4-7 years of experience in accounting-related fields 
  • Preferred experience in QuickBooks Online  
  • Adept at effectively engaging with individuals across all organizational hierarchies  
  • Strong in problem-solving, analytical skills, critical thinking skills, and being detail-oriented  
  • Can work independently, but also work effectively with a team  
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including but not limited to Outlook, Excel, and Word  

Other things we think you should know about the position 

  • Location – on-site in our Willmar, MN office and potential on-site client visits in the surrounding area
  • Hours are normally Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. CST
